Meet the team

David Ross

David Ross

David currently works with Synergy Flight Training as the Chief Flight Instructor alongside his father, Lavern. His lifelong experience in the industry as an operational pilot working wildfires, bird towing, and general charter on all types of helicopters has given him incredible amounts of knowledge and skill to impart to our students and staff.

Lavern Ross

Lavern Ross

If one person can say they have seen it all, it is Lavern. Lavern has previously been an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, Fixed-wing pilot, and Rotary wing pilot all over North America. After owning many of his own aviation companies for many years, two of which were flight training facilities, he chose to come on with Synergy as our assistant Chief Flight Instructor.
Carlin Simpson

Carlin Simpson

Carlin joined Synergy Aviation in January 2019 after completing his CPL(H) with Synergy Flight Training. It was evident that Carlin had the passion and drive to be successful within Aviation, which led to his hiring as the Training Coordinator with Synergy while still flying pipeline surveillance patrols and tours to gain more hours. His background in business and experience working as a paramedic make him a great fit at Team Synergy. He loves working with people and in the flight school; he hopes to be an instructor one day.
John Dalton

John Dalton

John moved from Ireland to Canada to get his Commercial helicopter pilot’s Licence, starting a second career. His first job in the industry was working with an aerial spraying company. He spent five years flying for this company doing jobs such as crop dusting, aerial forestry spraying, sightseeing tours and moving fire fighting crews for fire suppression. In 2016 he made a move from Ontario to Alberta. He started working with Synergy Aviation, initially based in Zama City, AB taking operators and slinging goods out to remote locations, then pipeline surveillance, geo survey and now a flight instructor with 3,000 hours of flying experience on multiple types of helicopters.
Ray Gervais

Ray Gervais

Raymond (Ray) Roy-Gervais works with Synergy Flight Training as a rotary-wing flight instructor (class 4) and Synergy Aviation as a rotary wing surveillance pilot on the Guimbal G2 and Robinson R44 helicopters. After a successful career in commercial sales and management, Ray returned to a long-held interest in aviation, turning his dreams into reality right here at Synergy Flight Training, an alumni of our 2018 Commercial Helicopter Pilot course.
